Let it Rain! …and Cover Girl
It has been a little over a month since we all landed in our new home on the eastern side of the Olympic Peninsula. I’ve been doing some more research into my mother’s Swedish side of the family, because I found a branch of the family tree that lived in this area. In addition, there is a historic area just up the road called Swansonville, founded by Swedes in the 19th century. My maternal grandmother was a Swanson, and you may recall the trip I took to Sweden with my daughter pre-pandemic….a Swedish fiddle and folk music 2 week tour that made me realize a lot of my mom’s family…

Getting Settled in Our New Home
Hello! – from the East side of the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State. We have finally completed all of our trips to bring our household, my studio, the 3 cats and 2 dogs, to our new home in Port Ludlow. We live right on Ludlow Bay, which is about 25 minutes south of Port Townsend where my friend Caryl Bryer Fallert Gentry lives. We are also about 90 minutes from the Seattle Airport. (or with traffic – up to 2 hours during rush hour) So far in our waterfront home, we’ve seen loads of Blue Herons, Kingfishers, Bald Eagles, and Cormorants. There is an otter den a couple docks down…

Almost Time to Turn the Page…..
Dear Friends, Thanks and welcome to all of you who have signed up for this blog in the last few weeks as we are going through such a huge transition. Some of you who follow my personal page on Facebook know that – in the midst of selling the warehouse, selling the business, moving eQuilter to a new warehouse with new owners, packing up my eQuilter office, then loading up my studio to ship to our new home in Washington state – I had a knee injury that really has put me out of commission. More Big News!
By now we hope you have read a press release detailing the sale of eQuilter to the new owners: Collin and Christina Stewart. Today Paul and I went to visit eQuilter in its new location, which is about 15 minutes NE of the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum. It was great to see our staff running the business with the new owners in this new space. Such a huge relief to us to know that this couple, and our staff, will steward the business into a new chapter. But today I am sharing some more big news. I was invited to give my power point lecture on “Art and Activism” as the keynote speaker for the Citizens Environment Coalition, comprised of over 100 environmental non-profit groups in Houston and around Texas.
